BAR Collection — comprised of Walton seniors (left to right) Brittney Brown, Rachel Dukes and Allison Kinsey — presented its business plan to the Alley Scholars Summit business plan competition judges on Saturday, Feb. 28. The trio placed first, beating out undergraduate teams from Arkansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas.

During the business plan challenge, teams develop and pitch a new business venture. The best proposals and presentations win teams a total of $10,000.

John English, dean of the College of Engineering, served as moderator. Serving as judges were: Carolyn Brown, Black Enterprise; Jamail Larkins, Ascension Air Management and Larkins Enterprises; Betty Manetta, Argent Associates; and Bob Storey, The Osteo Vantage Company.

The summit is sponsored by the Alley Scholars, a non-profit initiative for underrepresented students established by Troy and Unnice Alley with support from the Gerald and Candace Alley Foundation.
